If the boat crosses oceans, order 5 mm

Bonded 2 mm letters are fine for coastal use. On a boat that takes green water over the bow on passage, the extra stiffness of 5 mm and a mechanical fixing is worth the difference - a thin letter can be lifted at a corner by a boarding sea, and once one corner lifts the rest follows.

Salt, sun and ten years

316 is the grade specified for marine use because of its molybdenum content, which is what resists chloride pitting. That is the whole reason we do not offer 304 at any price. Every set carries a 10-year warranty against corrosion.
